Artificial grass
It's all in the base.
Artificial grass is only as good as the ground it's laid on. Rolled straight over old turf or soil, it goes lumpy, holds water and lets weeds push through. Laid properly, it stays flat, drains quickly after rain and looks the part for years.
That means digging out the old lawn, laying and compacting a stone sub-base, levelling it with a fine top layer, adding a weed membrane and fixing the edges securely. Where the ground holds water, we deal with the drainage first — like the enclosed garden below, where we put in underground drainage before laying.
Is it right for your garden?
Artificial grass works especially well in small or shaded gardens where real grass struggles, in gardens that get heavy use from children and dogs, and for anyone who'd rather not spend weekends mowing. If you'd prefer the real thing, we lay natural turf too, and we'll give you an honest view on which suits your garden.
